With free music from Pandora and Spotify, you might feel set when it comes to music streaming. But Milk Music, the new radio-esque, ad-free streaming service from Samsung, at least offers something a little different.
Working on an interface with a wheel control, Milk Music is "flexible and fast" and allows for plenty of customization, CNET reported.
The service has an outer wheel to allow users to select a general music genre as well as an inner wheel that lets them find a more specific station.
Samsung describes the streaming service as "a more intuitive and natural way to listen to music," said a press release.
Within the general stations of Pop, Rock, Jazz and more, users can also select a specific station; for example, the Jazz genre ranges from Classic Jazz to Big Band to Contemporary, while Pop has 20 specific stations and Rock has 24, according to CNET.
Similar to Pandora, custom listening can be created by putting in an artist name or song title. While users can't enter genres to tweak these stations, they can enter more than one artist to find the right mix.
"For example, there was no Bossa Nova station, so I created one by stating with Antonio Carlos Jobim, adding Sergio Mendes, and Joao Gilberto," CNET reported.
The service can also pick up on your tastes through favorite and dislike functions, both similar to Pandora. Through one of the control buttons, you can mark a track as a "favorite" or tell Milk Music not to show you the song again. Stations also allow six skips per hour.
A Milk Music perk is that the service is automatically ad-free. The online radio comprises 200 genre-based stations and 13 million songs, according to the Samsung press release.
The Milk Music app is available in the Google Play store for the Samsung Galaxy S4, the S4 Mini, the S3, the Galaxy Note 2, the Note 3, the Galaxy Mega, and the upcoming Galaxy S5.
