The 2022 Suzuki Baleno is finally here, with the Japanese automaker unveiling the city car for the Indian market. Suzuki made some major updates with the 2022 Baleno, labeling the vehicle as a full model change.

Suzuki decided to shake things up with this new-generation model, providing a heavy facelift of the current Baleno. Suzuki decided to revise the sheet metal draped over the outgoing Baleno's chassis, giving the 2022 model a fresh new look.

The 2022 Suzuki Baleno may feature new interior technologies and an updated exterior appearance, but one thing is still missing from this vehicle that will disappoint fans of this car. The facelifted Baleno will still not offer advanced safety technology, making this Suzuki model one of the last vehicles in the city car segment to not feature autonomous emergency braking.

Features of 2022 Suzuki Baleno

A restyled front fascia can be found on the outside of the new Baleno, which is home to the car's reshaped intakes and grille, as well as the vehicle's fog lights and LED headlights. A change can also be found towards the rear of the 2022 Suzuki Baleno, with the car's LED taillights extending into the tailgate while the vehicle's lower bumper has also been restyled.

Also undergoing a restyling are the Baleno's doors and side body panels to give the car a sharper appearance. Suzuki opted to keep the car's side window opening called the 'greenhouse' unchanged, as well as the Baleno's footprint. Its quoted size of 3995mm length and 1745mm width is identical to the footprint found in the current model of the Suzuki Baleno.

Regarding the Baleno's interior, Suzuki has installed a subtly-restyled dashboard that features a brand new 9.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with a voice assistant. The carmaker also installed a color head-up display in front of the driver and a 360-degree camera.

Other updates in the Suzuki Baleno's interior include reshaped seats for improved comfort, an upgraded Arkamys sound system, a new steering wheel borrowed from the Swift city car, rear USB-A and USB-C ports, an optional blue and black color scheme, and rear air vents.

Safety features still lacking in 2022 Suzuki Baleno

Indian buyers of the 2022 Baleno will be given access to a new Suzuki Connect app, which allows remote control of the hazards, alarms, lights, and the vehicle's locks. The app also provides "status alerts" to Suzuki Baleno passengers for various parameters of the vehicle.

As mentioned earlier, Suzuki has not updated the Baleno that much in terms of safety, with the 2022 model still not adopting any of the advanced technologies expected in the city car segment, such as lane-keep assist, autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.

The only safety features that Suzuki has made available for the 2022 Baleno in India are electronic stability control, hill-hold assist, six airbags, anti-lock brakes, rear parking sensors, and front seat belt reminders.
