The Golden State Warriors said on Wednesday that NBA superstar Kevin Durant has suffered a Level 2 MCL sprain and tibial bone bruise and is out indefinitely, even though he will be re-evaluated in four weeks. He exited the Golden State Warriors Game at the Washington Wizards for good after all of 93 seconds Tuesday night.

He was injured when his teammate Zaza Pachulia fell backward into his left leg while guarding Wizards center Marcin Gortat, less than a minute into the first quarter. The injury has worried the team that the season might be over for good for the NBA superstar.

The team didn't establish a timeframe for his return but said that there is a chance that he could return before the end of the regular season. Jeff Goodman of ESPN reported that the NBA superstar would be available for the postseason.

Kevin Durant leads the team in scoring 25.3 points per game, free throw makes 5.5 and attempts 6.3 per game, rebounds 8.2 per game and blocks 1.6 per game. Golden State added the NBA superstar in the offseason is the biggest move of the summer, signing him a two-year contract as the high-powered team added the 2013-2014 Kia MVP.

The best-case scenario is KD could return before the end of the regular season, which is on April 12. He could still have time back in shape before the playoffs. Also, a less optimistic scenario is the injury will take at least six weeks and may keep him out of the first round of the Playoffs.

Meanwhile, the race for the top in the Western Conference still continues to heat up. The San Antonio Spurs are currently four games behind the Warriors,w ith both team hoping to avoid facing the Houston Rockets in the Conference Semifinals.

Matt Barnes will be replacing Kevin Durant for the team until he totally heals up. He fits the Warrior's style of defense because he is 6-foot-7 with long arms and he also has experience defending multiple positions.
