Rockstar Games, the publisher behind the infamous Grand Theft Auto franchise, has been mum about releasing GTA 6. Speculations say that the game publisher could release the much-awaited game sometime in 2020.

Grand Theft Auto 6 could be released in 2020. Just recently, Rockstar Games announced the fall 2017 release of Red Dead Redemption 2. GTA 5 is still getting updates regularly although the game is already three years old. These just means that GTA 6's release date is still a long time from happening.

However, speculations are saying that the game could be released sometime in 2020. This is coming from the gap between the release of GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2. Since RDR 2 was released three years after GTA 5, fans can expect the game to be released three years after RDR 2 which, in this case, would be 2020. Other speculations point to a 2018 release based on the release pattern of the previous installments.

Players will have to make do with GTA 5 updates from Rockstar Games until the next installment of the franchise. The game publisher has been working on providing multiplayer content through GTA Online which should make players happy until then.

With regards to what Grand Theft Auto 6 will be offering players, it has been speculated that the game will go beyond a city map and could be country-sized in scale. Some are even speculating that the game could take place in a different country altogether, possibly London.

Other speculations claim that GTA 6 could offer virtual reality (VR) gameplay. If this does happen, it will be a major turning point for the franchise as it has always been a first-person/third-person video game.

For now, fans of the Grand Theft Auto franchise will just have to wait until the publisher issues an official statement on the game's development. Given the many big video game events that are lined up in 2017, Rockstar could give updates on the game at one of them.
