The AMD Ryzen lineup was recently leaked last week. The world learned that a total of 17 different Zen architecture CPUs would be available. Most recently, a shipping date has appeared for the CPUs' desktop processor family: Feb. 28.
Digital Trends reported that the date was first discovered by the Taobao distribution channel of Advanced Micro Devices Shanghai. Customers can pre-order the listed chip for $295 on the distribution channel. This listing does not specify the exact model number but it does show the clock speed to be 4.2 GHz.
The clock speed could be the chip's turbo speed considering the highest clock speed announced was only 3.6 GHz. Similar to the eight-core Ryzen processor on display at the CES 2017 which was reported to have a base speed of 3.6 GHz and a turbo speed of up to 3.9 GHz, the real speed is allegedly higher.
The new higher speeds can be achieved through F3 stepping. This means that the AMD Ryzen went through some considerable changes making it even better than previously announced. The company has additionally reported that their performance during the CES 2017 was not the full capabilities of the Zen architecture and its Ryzen processors.
The most interesting part of the report is the price. If the reports are correct, the 4.2 GHz clock speed is possibly only $295. A lot of people have reacted to this price point and believe it is too low. It could be possible for its R3 4-core variants.
In related news, in a recent report by Forbes, several sources believe that Intel may be threatened by the Ryzen CPU. According to the news website, French website CPC Hardware claims that Intel will be offering a Core i5-7640K which will allegedly offer a 200 MHz boost and also hyper-threading. Previously, hyper-threading was only available for the Core i7 K-series.
Additionally, the French site also reports that a second unlocked Core i7 CPU, a Core i7-7740K, will also be released which will offer a speed increase. However, this latest CPU will still fall short of the AMD's 6-core/12-thread SR5 CPUs.
Finally, the website has also reported that the Core i5-7600K could well see a price cut to below $200. The latest AMD Ryzen desktop CPUs may ship as early as Feb. 28 but has already been confirmed to be released by next month.
