The Nintendo Switch console was just unveiled in Tokyo today. The handheld gaming system will have its official release two months from now, March 3. Several retailers in the U.S. are now offering pre-orders including Target, Best Buy, GameStop, Amazon, and Walmart.

The mobile console comes with a ballpark price of $299. Nintendo's store in New York City will start accepting pre-orders starting today at 9 AM. However, only limited quantity of preorders will be allowed.

Nintendo is planning to conduct sampling events for invited media, partners, and consumers. These invite-only events will be held across the U.S. and Canada. Some of the cities covered include New York, January 13-15, Toronto, January 27-29, Chicago, February 17-19, and Los Angeles, March 3-5.

GameStop customers need to trade-in their used consoles to avail of a $75 extra credit that will be offered for a Nintendo Switch pre-order. The Switch unit includes the console itself, the Switch Dock, the Joy-Con joysticks, an HDMI cable, and an AC adapter. Customers can avail the console in two colors - gray or a more colorful option.

Nintendo is selling additional Joy-Con controllers for $80. Another accessory, the Nintendo Pro Controller, is available for $70.

Amazon, Walmart, BestBuy, and Target are also selling the hardware at $300. The limited quantity preorders were criticized by Nintendo's followers on Twitter. They fear of another NES Classic artificial hype that resulted in limited supply. The Mini NES remains a hot item since its launch last November.

As announced today in Tokyo, the Nintendo Switch will have the "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" as the launch title. Other games to be released include "Super Mario Odyssey" and a "Mario Kart Deluxe".
