The Nintendo Switch is less than a day away from its official launch in Tokyo. The event will officially announce details about the console including price. Japanese daily Nikkei previously predicted a ballpark price of $215. Recent reports revealed that the handheld gaming system will be sold by Target in North America for $299 with quite a few titles.

Two days ago, an employee at rival retailer Best Buy leaked the price of the Nintendo Switch at $249.99. Now, Target's stock system contains a placeholder listing for the console with a price $50 higher. The placeholder listing also contains 15 Switch games, indicating that the console can be acquired at Target pre-loaded with games.

The revealed information from Target and Best Buy may not be final yet. Maybe Target is selling the Nintendo Switch as part of a bundle with 15 titles while Best Buy is only retailing the console's base model. Both retailers are yet to release official announcements on the Switch's price.

Meanwhile, Nikkei's price prediction for the Nintendo Switch is a tradition for the Japanese daily. Nikkei always reveal a key detail of a Nintendo product before its launch. It got pretty close to the Wii U's launch price. For the Nintendo Switch, Nikkei estimated it at 25,000 Japanese yen or about $215 at present exchange rate.

The Nintendo Switch will be released by the Japanese gaming giant in March 2017. The Switch name alludes to the device's dual roles as a home gaming system and a portable console.

The console's official launch is on January 12 in Tokyo, Japan. After that, sampling events will be conducted in the U.S. and Europe for invited media partners. The video below offers a preview of the Nintendo Switch gaming system. Share your thoughts on the article in the comment section.
