The 2016 Nissan Leaf Electric Car that sells for $35,000 can now be purchased at below $14,000 by directly buying it from Nissan at 0-downpayment and 0-interest rate payable within 72 months.Similar discounts are also offered for other electric car brands.

Electric cars are being promoted because they do not cause pollution and to convince people to try them, big discounts are being offered. These discounts include assorted ones from the dealer amounting to $4,500; discount from Nissan Finance amounting to $6,000; and Federal Tax Credit of $7,000; and State Tax Credit of $4,653.00, according to MarketWatch.

Federal Tax credit, however, is only given when purchasing an electric car that qualifies for a federal tax credit discount. As of April 16, only BMW 13, Chevrolet Spark EV, Fiat 500e, Ford Focus Electric, Kia Soul EV, Mercedes-Benz B - Class EV, Mitsubishi i-MiEV, Nissan Leaf, Smart Fortwo EV, Tesla Model S, Tesla Model X, and Volkswagen e-Golf. according to Edmunds.com.

However, car buyers whose tax due is less than $7,500 will enjoy a discount equivalent to the tax that has to be paid at the end of the year. If the tax due is only $5,000, then the discount will be equivalent to that amount only.

Aside from the electrifying discounts, there are numerous benefits that can be derived from buying an electric car, according to IVEY Engineering Inc.

Using an electric car means great savings because gasoline refueling costs more than battery recharging. It is a time saver as well since people need not wait several minutes for their car to be refueled. With an electric car, the battery can be recharged at home at night or in public places where there are car battery chargers that can be used for free.
