Automakers like Toyota Motors and Honda Motors have suspended operations at some of its production facilities in central and eastern Japan due to heavy snow, which affected their supply chains, according to Reuters.
Many workers were also unable to get to the plants due to the snow as well.
Heavy snow fell in Tokyo and other parts of eastern Japan on Feb. 14, and over the weekend, causing nasty traffic on some of the most popular roadways in the region, according to Reuters.
Toyota has halted production at four of its plants near its headquarters in central Japan like the Tsutsumi plant, where it makes popular models like Prius.
Toyota's Tahara plant, which makes the Lexus LS, was closed after parts were unable to reach the plant due to the snow, spokesman Ryo Sakai said.
Toyota has not announced when its facilities will reopen.
Honda stopped operations at two plants in eastern Japan on Feb. 14 as well, though operations had resumed at one of them earlier today, Feb. 17, confirmed a company spokeswoman.
"If the road conditions are better, we can probably resume regular operations on Tuesday," Eriko Hata said, according to Reuters.
Fuji Heavy Industries, which makes Subaru vehicles, suspended operations for Feb. 17 as well at its Yajima plant in eastern Japan.
The company makes vehicles like the Legacy and the Forester among other vehicles at the Yajima plant, said spokesman Shunsuke Koike.
