Burnt Galaxy S4: Samsung Won’t Honor Warranty Until User Removes Video

Samsung supposedly tried silencing a customer whose Galaxy S4 caught fire recently by saying they would not honor the device's warranty until he removed a video showing what happens to the phone after it bursts into flames while plugged into a Samsung phone charger.

The Galaxy S4 user posted a video on YouTube showing the device and the damage it suffered, and though the device didn't explode, its charging port was so burnt it could no longer be used.

Samsung sent a letter out to the user with an offer to replace the phone, but that they would only do so once his video was taken down from YouTube.

"As a condition of exchanging the phone with a similar model, *** agrees to remove his Youtube video from the following link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dc4duKuPrQ0 or any other link or statement relating to these matters and refrain from making other videos or statements about or relating to the matters set out herein," the letter from Samsung reads.

The letter also ordered the user to not reveal the settlement agreement to world, which he clearly didn't do.

The controversial video has collected over 400,000 hits on YouTube, as of press time.

Samsung's letter to the user has been published on the internet and has also gone viral.

This is hardly the first time a phone has caught fire and caused a headline-making incident. Back in July, a S4 exploded and burnt down a house in Hong Kong.

The user had just been playing a game while charging the device when it exploded, causing him to throw the phone, which landed on a couch.

The fire from the device spread throughout the house, according to Xianguo.com.
