As the holiday season heats up, networks have planned a lineup of Christmas specials with some big names including Michael Bublé along with classics like "It's a Wonderful Life."

NBC will feature pop star Kelly Clarkson at 10 p.m. Dec. 11 in "Kelly Clarkson's Cautionary Christmas Music Tale," according to Entertainment Weekly.

The original American Idol will appear with a plethora of such stars as Robin Williams, Whoopi Goldberg and William Shatner, Rolling Stone reported.

The special will explain what Christmas really means with a comedic story and music. A show within a show, the program will feature Clarkson "scheming" to become more popular with a Christmas special but instead learning an important lesson, according to The Associated Press.

"Cautionary Christmas Music Tale" will also showcase some of Clarkson's newest songs, as the 31-year-old singer recently released her first Christmas album, "Wrapped in Red." Clarkson's takes on "White Christmas" and "Silent Night" will be part of the special.

Celine Dion and Bublé will each have a turn in the holiday spotlight as well. "Home for the Holidays" with Celine Dion will air on CBS at 8 p.m. Dec. 18. The special highlighting adoption will introduce families and the children they have adopted from foster care, CBS reported. Dion will perform, and other celebrities will appear on the broadcast.

Bublé's "3rd Annual Christmas Special" on NBC at 10 p.m. Dec. 18 is slated to be star-studded with such guests as Mariah Carey and Mary J. Blige, according to the show website. Featured holiday songs will include "The Christmas Song," "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," "I'll Be Home for Christmas" and "Let It Snow."

In the 50th anniversary year for the cult television favorite, the "Doctor Who" Christmas special will be on BBC America at 9 p.m. Dec. 25.

Time-tested favorites will be returning to the screen as well. The "I Love Lucy" Christmas special will be on CBS at 8 p.m. Dec. 20, while ABC will air "A Chipmunk Christmas" at 8:30 p.m. Dec. 23.

And because it wouldn't be Christmas without George Bailey and Zuzu, NBC will air 1946 classic "It's a Wonderful Life" at 8 p.m. on Dec. 14.
