iOS 7 Untethered Jailbreak: New Download Expected in 3 Weeks from Evad3rs?

A new jailbreak to free iPhones from iOS 7, or Apple's latest download, iOS 7.0.2., is supposedly underway by the first team to jailbreak iOS 6 last winter.

The team, known as the evad3rs, revealed last month that they were looking into creating a jailbreak for iOS 7. Now a recent report by Sidhtech.com claims the evad3rs are just weeks away from creating a new download.

A team member who goes by the Twitter handle @planetbeing said last month that they were "actively" looking to figure out if a jailbreak is possible, and warned people to be patient until they're able to release a successful jailbreak.

"Since everyone loves updates: @evad3rs have now started to actively look at iOS 7," evad3r @planetbeing said on Twitter on Sept. 11. "The operative word here, as understood by many, is 'actively.'"

People are now expecting the team to release a new jailbreak around the same time Apple releases the iPad mini 2 or the iPad 5.

The iPad mini 2 is expected to be released later on this month, meaning in 2 or 3 weeks Apple users may finally be able to jailbreak their iPhones.

Despite the team's progress, one thing we do know for sure is that a jailbreak won't be released within the next week.

"(T)he road is long though. Assembling all the pieces may take a while... Don't expect a jailbreak next week people ;)" team member @pod2g recently said on Twitter.

iOS 6 was released with the iPhone 5 last a little over a year ago, but it took approximately five months before the evad3rs were able to release a successful jailbreak. Many fake downloads were released before that to try fooling people into handing over their money.

Similar sites have been reportedly doing the same thing for iOS 7, so in case you're tempted to try one, it would be wise to just wait for the next evasiOn download.

iOS 7 is available for the iPhone  4, 4S, 5, 5S, and 5C, according to Apple.
