iOS 7 Untethered Jailbreak Update: Hackers Make Progress Towards Freeing iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C Devices

It hasn't even been a day since iOS 7 was detailed at length by Apple during their big event in California, but hackers are already making "significant progress" towards creating a jailbreak for Apple's newest operating system.

The evad3rs, famously known for creating the first successful jailbreak for iOS 6 last winter, are currently "inspecting their exploits" to see if any of them still might support Apple's upcoming iOS 7, according to Planetbeing, one of the evad3rs.

The hacker has tweeted a great deal this week about the team's plans, saying they've made progress towards a future jailbreak. This could mean that it might not take as long to see a jailbreak for iOS 7 as it did for iOS 6.

iOS 6 was released with the iPhone 5 last September, but it took approximately five months before the evad3rs were able to release a successful jailbreak. No one else came close to doing so, though dozens of fake jailbreaks were released to fool hopeful Apple users.

All progress achieved thus far has been done so on either an iPhone 4S or iPhone 5 running iOS 7, according to iDownloadBlog.

The iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C, both set to be released next week, could be harder to jailbreak thanks to their bit processing capability.

iOS 7 will be available for the iPhone 4, 4S, 5, 5S, and 5C, according to Apple.

There is no set time for the jailbreak to be released, so make sure to check back for the latest updates regarding a jailbreak for iOS 7.
