Apple users looking to trade in their current smartphone to afford a new device, like the iPhone 5S or iPhone 5C, will be able to do so at Walmart starting next week.
On Sept. 21, people who bring their used smartphone to Walmart can earn anywhere from $50 to $300 for their old phone, according to a company press release.
The amount received for an old phone will all depend on the shape the device is in. If you have a working iPhone 5 with no damages for example, you'll earn credit worth $300.
"Smartphones have become a part of our customers' everyday lives and as new devices launch more frequently, trade-in programs are becoming more popular," said Steve Bratspies, Walmart's executive VP of general merchandise, in a press statement. "More and more, customers are choosing where they purchase new smartphones based on where they'll get the best value for their trade-ins."
A used Samsung Galaxy S3 in good condition will get someone $175 tops, and a Galaxy S2 goes for approximately $52.
You won't be able to pocket the money however according to Walmart. The money received for a turned-in device must then be credited towards a new smartphone.
Customers can chose a smartphone with a two-year contract or pick a phone through the company's contract-free Straight Talk plan, according to Walmart.
"We're saving our customers money while keeping thousands of smartphones from going to landfills each year," Bratspies said. "Walmart's smartphone trade-in programs are good for business, our customers and the environment."
Over 3,600 Walmart and Sam's Club stores have agreed to take part in the trade-in promotion.
