U.S. safety regulators are investigating Ford Focus electric cars after receiving over 10 consumer complaints of stalling incidents.
The preliminary evaluations of the Focus EVs released for the 2012 and 2013 model years was opened after 11 people complained that their vehicle stopped while driving, according to a report by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
A Ford spokesman said the automaker is cooperating with the NHTSA's probe.
A preliminary evaluation is the first step in a procedure that could lead to a recall if the NHTSA feels it's necessary.
Half of the incidents took place at speeds of over 30 mph, and all of the complaints received took place the last five months, according to the NHTSA.
No injuries or crashes have been reported as of press time.
Approximately 1,000 of the plug-in electric vehicles, launched in 2012, are included in the probe, according to Reuters.
