The business was booming for Lamborghini in 2021, with the Italian manufacturer achieving an all-time delivery record of 8,405 units. That is a 13 percent increase compared to their sales the previous year. Powering Lamborghini's surge last year was the strong demand for the Urus, with the Super SUV accounting for 59.74 percent of its sales.

Urus leads the way for Lamborghini with more than 5,000 units sold in 2021

It was undoubtedly the firm's best-selling product, with a total of 5,021 units delivered in 2021. The Huracan was still a popular vehicle for Lamborghini, with 2,586 units of the V10 supercar sold to the public in 2021. The outgoing Aventador came in third, with Lamborghini selling 798 units last year.

Americans loved scooping their Lamborghinis last year, with the United States again being the brand's best individual market. At least 2,472 units were sold to Americans, the highest in 2021. That is an 11 percent increase compared to the previous year.

China was the next best market for Lamborghini, with 935 units sold. That is a 55 percent increase compared to 2020. Coming in third was Germany, which had 706 deliveries. The United Kingdom came in fourth with 564 units sold in Great Britain. Lamborghini remained popular at home in Italy, with the car giant increasing its deliveries by three percent to 359 automobiles in 2021.

It was a great year all around for Lamborghini, which saw double-digit gains in all three of the macro-regions in 2021. Europe, the Middle East, and Africa accounted for 39 percent of the sales in 2021, while America had 35 percent of the units sold last year. The Asia Pacific region was not that far behind, with 27 percent of the total units sold in 2021 coming from this area.

The future looks bright for Lamborghini, with hybridization on the way

Three products were introduced by Lamborghini last year, namely: Aventador Ultimae, Countach LPI 800-4, and the Huracan Super Trofeo Omologata (STO). The year 2022 promises to be another big one for Lamborghini, with its order portfolio already covering almost the entire production planned for the year.

Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann was confident about his company's outlook, saying, "We are stronger than ever as we prepare to embark on a period of profound transformation and move towards an even more sustainable future. In 2022, we'll be doing our utmost to consolidate the current performance and get ready for the arrival of our future hybrid range from 2023 onwards."

Four new products are on the cards for Lamborghini in 2022, with the company still keeping those details under wraps. One of those products is expected to be the Urus, which made waves in 2021 as one of the best-performing SUVs in the market. All three product lines of Lamborghini will be "hybridized" by the end of 2024, with the company investing more than $1.7 billion to improve its fleet.
