Asus ZenFone 3 Zoom Delayed to Make Room For ‘Better Specs’

Taiwanese electronics company Asus recently announced that it is postponing the imminent release of its next flagship smartphone, the ZenFone 3 Zoom. The phone was unveiled at this year's Consumer Electronics Show last month and was slated to hit the market within this month. Asus has yet to comment when the company plans to release the phone.

According to Phandroid, the Taiwanese tech giant said that the Asus ZenFone 3 Zoom was postponed in order to make necessary amendments on its hardware. When the ZenFone 3 Zoom was unveiled, it was revealed that the phone will pack a 12-megapixel rear-facing main camera than can deliver up to 12x zoom, hence the Zoom branding. The phone was also confirmed to pack a massive 5,000mAh battery

While these specs are fascinating, fans and critics were somewhat disappointed with Asus' decision to equip the ZenFone with a rather underrated Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset, especially in the time when most smartphone manufacturers are picking the more powerful Snapdragon 821 and Snapdragon 835 to power their flagship devices, according to Techno Buffalo.

It appears that the Asus ZenFone Zoom 3 will be tweaked in order to compete with some upcoming rivals. It will not surprise the tech community if Asus equips the ZenFone 3 Zoom with a more powerful chipset, or maybe make some upgrades on the phone's specs.

Asus did not provide any details regarding what changes are in line for the ZenFone 3 Zoom. It is possible that the next Asus ZenFone could have an upgraded display, or perhaps more memory, and bigger storage to make space for ultra-sharp 4K videos that users will snap using its impressive camera.

Despite the delay, fans are guaranteed that it is not for nothing. Instead of hitting the market this month, the Asus ZenFone 3 Zoom will most likely hit the market sometime in the second quarter of the year.
