The 2017 Cadillac Escalade Platinum went out with Roadshow's Associate Editor Antuan Goodwin and went in-depth with Cady's flagship SUV. This ambitious vehicle was crafted with the balance of beauty, latest tech, and of course functionality. But let's check out what Roadshow has to say about this big boy.

With a total rating of 7.2 could indicate that Cadillac's flagship SUV has it all. But one notable detail Goodwin noticed about Cadillac's SUV is that it hasn't seen the shrinking and downsizing which has been quite common in SUVs these days, thanks to the introduction of CUVs.

The engine behind the 2017 Cadillac Escalade Platinum is 6.2-liter V8. This badass beauty has 460 lb-ft of torque and produces 420 horses. The great thing about this big boy is it comes with fuel-saving tech thanks to the cylinder deactivation tech that shuts down 4 of the V8's cylinder when, as Goodwin notes, you are speeding on a 55 or descending.

Cadillac claims that their flagship SUV has a 20 mpg rating on the highway. But the combined testing of Goodwin brings this big boy at around 17 mpg both city and highway. Well, pretty much in line with what Cadillac said the SUV would do.

The Escalade comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission and the company's own four-wheel drive system. It comes in 4 different modes: two-wheel-drive setting which sends power to the rear wheels, AWD, and 2 different 4WD settings.

With a base price of $93,390 for the Platinum trim, per Cadillac, it relatively packs almost every single thing Cadillac has to offer. The interior has semi-aniline leather seats for both the first and second rows and there basically isn't much plastic visible inside the cabin. This is a luxury at its finest.

The 2017 Cadillac Escalade Platinum is equipped with Cadillac CUE3 that functions by either touch or voice command. It comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

This big boy comes with 22-inch wheels and Cadillac's magnetic ride control system. According to Antuan Goodwin, it helps smooth out bumps in the road and dials down outside noise, thus a quiet and peaceful ride.

Overall, in terms of fuel-saving features, driver assist tech, and other features, the 2017 Cadillac Escalade Platinum is a sure winner. On the downside, leg room on the third row and cargo space do not match the actual size of the SUV. But hey, it is up to you to decide whether this big boy deserves its title as Cadillac's flagship SUV.
