The most used browser in the world, Google Chrome, comes with a lot of glitches. It is definitely popular but at the same time, it has its bag full of flaws. There are still many things that are bothersome about the browser even after Google brought in about 50 updates to it so far. There are lot of areas that needs to be fixed to make online experience optimal for users,

A few tips are gathered together, 10 to be precise, which shows how to make Google Chrome less cumbersome.

Tabs can be muted. Auto-playing video and audio are extremely annoying. Chrome has a feature to mute all the tabs with a click. The browser will show Chrome's experimental options, with the Tab audio muting UI control option highlighted. After enabling it, Chrome should be launched again and the volume indicator should be clicked to mute.

Data Requests. It is a good thing that Chrome asks permission before the personal information such as location can be accessed by websites. However, if a user never wants any website to access this information, it gets annoying to answer in the negative always. There is a workaround to this too, reported PC World.

To activate this, users need to open the setting by clicking the three vertical dots in Chrome's upper right-hand corner. After this, go to the Content settings button in the Privacy section. In this the Location and Notifications options are available. Select the option which says "Do not allow any site to show notifications" and the prompts will vanish, reported Computer Magazine.

Scale the interface. If the user is browsing with a display with an exceptionally high or exceptionally low resolution, the on-screen elements can look tiny or enlarged. However, Chrome has its own scaling option. In the advanced settings of Chrome, the "Page Zoom" drop-down menu should be selected to adjust the zoom percentage.

Avoiding accidental closures. In case the user is using the browser and accidently clicks the exit button, Chrome closes all the tabs without warning. This had made the browser a little annoying as it is a high price to pay for a small mistake by the user.

The best that a user can get is for Chrome to prompt when trying to close multiple tabs simultaneously. Meanwhile, there is a workaround to this. When opening a website, pin this website by opening it, then right-clicking on the tab and selecting Pin tab. The website is this pinned. When the user tries to close the tabs, a prompt will appear asking if they want to leave this site or not. This protects all the other open tabs too.

Extensions to be updated. If the developer mode is activated, there will be an option to update the extensions. However, there is a way to update the extensions. In settings of Chrome, click on Extensions in the left-hand column. Check the developer mode box at the top of the screen. After this, click on "Update extensions."

How to stop auto-playing videos. Open advanced settings and go to content settings in that. Scroll down to the Flash portion and select Block sites from running Flash. After doing this, unless the user right clicks and allows a Flash element to play, it would not.

How to avoid tabs that ruin the PC. There might be some websites which makes the PC slow. This will affect all the tabs that are open. It is possible to just kill that one website without affecting others. Use the browser's own task manager to do that. Click the three vertical dots in the upper-right corner to open Chrome's options, then hover over the More Tools option and click Task Manager.

How to change the Omnibox search engine. It is by default that the Chrome's Omnibox acts as both a URL bar and search. This defaults to Google and if that has to be changed it has an option. In settings, there is a drop-down box in the Search section, with "Google" listed. This can be changed with other alternatives of the user's choice.

Guest browsing. The guest mode in Chrome enables one to keep browsing as private as possible when there are multiple users using the systems. How to activate this? In the settings there is a People section, check the Enable guest browsing box. It is as simple as that. Now click user profile name in the upper-right corner of the browser and select Guest from the drop-down list. This guest mode will not be tied to the main account. Privacy ensured.

How to clean up. Sometimes things get slower. Then the Chrome cleanup tool can be run. "This application will scan and remove software that may cause problems with Chrome, such as crashes, unusual startup pages or toolbars, unexpected ads you can't get rid of, or otherwise changing your browsing experience," says Google.

Also, every once in a while, uninstall Chrome and reinstall it again. This could also fix a multitude of problems.
