The brand new Apple iOS 10.2.1 has been released a couple of days back. The update came after 42 days after iOS 10.2 was released by the company.

Users can now install the iOS 10.2.1 through iTunes or downloading it by going to Settings > General > Software Update. Since the update is only about 72 MB, there will not be any necessity to clear much space on the devices. The update is applicable for iPhone 5 and later, iPad 4th generation and iPod touch 6th generation and so on.

There are certain issues that were encountered while iOS 10.2 was released. This update, most likely, would have addressed those minor issues. It included new wallpapers for the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, a new TV app, new Messages effects, new Camera settings, a new Videos app widget and 100 new emoji characters based on Unicode 9.0, reported Forbes.

The security page of Apple suggested that iOS 10.2.1 update addresses under-the-hood kernel improvements. There are certain bugs that are fixed which used to cause Auto Unlock to unlock when the Apple Watch is off the user's wrist. The update also addressed the nuisance caused by malicious contact cards that can crash the Contacts app. It is reported that the update also looked into the issue that causes the Home Screen to be displayed briefly in an activation-locked device.

The update comes with the description that the new version has fixed bugs and the security level has been increased. The security level for the new update is for the iPhone or iPad. This means that the new version is just a minor update, reported NDTV.

There is no confirmation if the 10.2.1 update has a fix for the 30% bug which made the devices to drop all of a sudden from 30% battery charge to 1%. More confirmation on the same is awaited.

At the same time, the iOS 10.3 is all set to be released next month. This is a much-awaited release. It is rumored that the update will have a new feature called the "Theater Mode." It is said that this mode is some form of enhanced Dark Mode. It is speculated that this mode would optimize the way in which the video is viewed by dimming the screen and muting notifications. A popcorn-shaped icon is said to control the "Theater Mode" with one tap.
