Nissan revealed that the new Nissan Leaf might undergo a major makeover. It is also speculated that Nissan will transform and augment its features. It could either turn into a more powerful electric SUV, a sports car that will embody a sturdier and powerful form or a crossover of both.

An undeniable surge of goals and plans are being considered by one of the biggest carmakers in the world. A prior report given by Auto Express indicated that Nissan is considering variant future developments for its Nissan Leaf. Also, it aims at improving and fortifying its electric car range set to broaden its horizons. It would also include a new crossover and sports car that is forecast for realization in the next five years.

To prove the latter, even the senior vice-president of Nissan Corporation Shiro Nakamura affirmed some truth. "A new modular platform currently under development will be able to adopt conventional and alternative power trains and that this will be key to Nissan's plan to broaden its EV line-up," he said.

"We don't want to limit our EVs just to the Leaf. We're the leading EV manufacturer, but I don't think we can make it just off one EV, so we want to grow the portfolio, that's our next plan," Nakamura continued. "It could be a crossover, it could be a sports car; we see much more opportunity for EVs than just a hatchback."

Given the goals of Nissan, it is just a matter of time before the company makes preparations to achieve reality. It also stands out that the company is not hastening the productions but are rather careful in all of its planning and implementations.

It goes without saying that the success of Nissan and its Leaf series was noteworthy and remarkable to the core. Even though the Tesla Model 3 and the Chevrolet Bolt EV have been known as Nissan's competitors in terms of providing electric-car series, the Nissan Leaf remains as the best-selling plug-in vehicle of all time. With a benchmark of 200,000th Leaf being sold, it gained more revenues in comparison to its competitors, as reported by Green Car Reports.

Although there are still many hurdles to overcome, the decision of Nissan to render a full makeover for its Nissan Leaf series is strong and unwavering. All the more, it remains uncertain on which form the Nissan Leaf would transform into.

It could either evolve into a forceful electric SUV, a prime sports car or even a crossover hybrid. Regardless of the outcome, car enthusiasts can expect more from the car that made a mark in history.
