iPhone 6 In-Store Pickups Offered by Apple For Online Preorders

Apple will have iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus models waiting at stores on Sept. 19 for customers who previously placed preorders online.

As mentioned in an iPhone banner ad on Apple's retail store page, the company is providing in-store pickups for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

Both new iPhones will be available for preorder at 12:01 a.m. Pacific today.

"The big day is coming. Pre-order iPhone 6 and have it shipped to you for free, or pick it up in store. You can also buy at the Apple Retail Store beginning at 8:00 a.m. on September 19," the ad reads.

A report by AppleInsider confirmed that Apple representatives are telling customers they can designate a pickup location when placing a preorder reservation online, then bring in a web receipt or registered email to present to an Apple Store greater on Sept. 19.

Wait times may vary, according to the iPhone maker.

There may not be enough supply to keep the option open through to launch day, as retail locations need stock on hand for walk-in customers as well.

Apple say supplies will be limited and will be available for purchase on a "first-come, first-served basis," which is usually the case for iOS device launches.

Apple offered in-store pickup for the iPhone 4 back in 2010, but it discontinued the service for devices since then due to initial supply constraints.

Apple has listed the 16GB option of its iPhone 6 at $199, whereas the iPhone 6 Plus is $299 for the standard 16GB model.

Both devices, which were unveiled on Tuesday at Apple's event in Cupertino, C.A., come in Silver, Gold, and Space Gray.

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus feature 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch LED-backlit widescreen Multi-Touch display screens, respectively.
