Overnight Test-Drives, In-Home Demos Offered by Lexus Dealer

One of the key steps a car buyer takes when deciding on a new car is taking a test-drive. Most drivers feel that test-drives aren't long enough however, since dealerships only allow drivers to get a few miles behind the wheel of a car they're considering.

Lexus of Lehigh Valley believes that test-drives are so important that they're letting customers take vehicles home overnight.

Extended test-drives allow customers the opportunity to spend more time with a specific vehicles to decide if they really want to purchase it or not. It also allows car buyers the chance to drive the vehicle the way they would if they already purchased it, according to Edmunds.

Scott Avery Jr., sales manager at Lexus of Lehigh Valley, was quoted saying that more than half of the car shoppers who choose the overnight test-drive come back and buy the car eventually.

"We know shoppers aren't always comfortable on a test-drive. That's usually not good for them or for us. An overnight test-drive gives customers a lot more time in the car, and in a way [that] they can be completely relaxed," the sales manager said, according to Edmunds.

The test-drives aren't the only unique option the dealership offers to make things easier for car buyers. Lexus of Lehigh also offers at-home demonstration that can be scheduled online or over the phone.

The dealership gets about a dozen requests per month from car shoppers who are interested in an at-home demo, Avery said.

Dealerships will do the in-home demo and then leave the car with the shopper for an overnight test-drive.

Though the services require a lot of work, Avery said that Lexus of Lehigh Valley doesn't mind going the extra mile.

"Catering to your customers makes sense. Our shoppers expect convenience, and this is one of the ways we make shopping easier for them," said Avery.
