BMW has confirmed that's its 2014 BMW 3 Series recently earned the highest five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The 3 Series vehicle earned five stars in the side crash test, five stars in the rollover crash test, and four stars in the front crash test.
The NHTSA's rating applies for every 3 Series version available, including the 2014 BMW 328, 320i, 328i and 335i Xdrive GT.
Standard safety features found across the 3 Series lineup includes traction control, knee airbags for the driver and front-seat passenger, and dynamic stability control.
Optional safety equipment includes lane-departure warning system, forward collision warning system, and blind-spot detection system.
The 2014 3 Series also recently received "Good" ratings in every crash test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
The vehicle did earn a "Marginal" rating in the small overlap front crash test however, according to the IIHS.
The small overlap front crash test is designed to replicate what happens when the front corner of a vehicle hit another vehicle or an object like a pole or tree, according to the IIHS.
The BMW 3 Series competes with several similar vehicles like the Audi A4, Infiniti Q50, and Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
