A zebra and donkey mix animal, called a "zonkey," was born at the Reynosa Zoon in Northern Mexico on April 21, according to ABC News.
The calf, which has been named Khumba, has a donkey-looking face and colored skin tone, though its front and hind legs have zebra stripes.
Khumba's mother is a zebra, named Rayas, who used to visit a small albino donkey named Ignacio at his home on a farm "every afternoon," according to ABC News.
A zonkey is considered rare for a number of reasons, including its appearance, and because zebra and donkey chromosomes are not compatible.

Donkeys have 62 chromosomes, horses have 64 chromosomes and zebras have 44.
At press time, Khumba is perfectly healthy.
"Owner Serena Aglietti built a fence to separate the two animals. But somehow, in the golden light of a field in Florence, love flowered," the Inquisitr reported this week.
Now if a male donkey were to mate with a female zebra, it would be called a "donkra," according to ABC News.
Zonkeys can also be referred to as zedonks or zebroids.
