Chrysler has issued a recall for 49,400 Dodge Charger vehicles due to a problem with the headlights.
The carmaker will inspect headlight components on 2011-2012 Dodge Charger sedans and replace them if necessary, Edmunds.com reported.
The recall comprises 43,450 Chargers in the United States, 2,850 in Canada, 375 in Mexico and 2,700 outside the NAFTA region, according to Edmunds. No injuries or accidents have been reported in connection with the issue.
The carmaker will inspect "headlight jumper harnesses and bulbs or headlight assemblies on affected Chargers with halogen headlights," Edmunds reported.
The headlight problem seems to be related to a recall issued about two years ago for nearly 10,000 Dodge Charger police vehicles.
"Customer service data led Chrysler Group engineers to investigate reports similar to those that prompted a 2012 recall," the company said Thursday in a statement, as quoted by Edmunds. "The campaign involved police vehicles equipped with jumper harnesses and other components that overheated."
In 2012, about 9,690 Dodge Charger police vehicles were recalled due to a possible "loss of visibility" in the 2011-2012 models.
Some of the vehicles were likely constructed with faulty headlights that would lose their low beams when the bulb harness connector overheated, Chrysler said at the time.
The automaker also recalled some Dodge Charger models in December due to issues with the automatic transmission.
Chrysler said the affected models are equipped with a "specific set of features and equipment," including 4x4 or all-wheel drive, a V6 engine, and an eight-speed transmission.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration hasn't yet commented on the current recall.
