Google Will Pay You $15 To Refer Users

In the hopes of taking on the nearly ubiquitous Microsoft Office Suite, Google is offering a $15 referral incentive for every Google Apps for Business user you bring in.

Prajesh Parekh, who works in Google Apps marketing, announced the deal in a blog post on Monday, ZDNet.com reported.

"The referral program makes it easy to share Google Apps with your network and show them how they too can use these tools at work," Parekh wrote in the post. "To show our appreciation, we're offering a $15 referral bonus for each new Google Apps user you refer."

The cloud-based office suite comprises Gmail; Google Calendar; Google Drive; Google Docs; Slides, which is similar to PowerPoint; and Sheets, which does the same work as Excel.

Google Apps for Business works on a subscription plan that costs $5 per user per month or $50 for each user per year.

"For those of us who use Google Apps, the ability to access all of our documents from anywhere on any device and being able to seamlessly collaborate with colleagues or customers across the world, are impressive moments," Parekh described in the blog post.

"These are moments we want to share with friends and colleagues because the more the people in our networks use Google Apps, the more seamlessly we can collaborate with them--whether it's video conferencing via Hangouts, working together on Docs or sharing calendars."

According to ZDNet, the referral program could be a profitable deal. For each user you refer, you'll get $15, plus an additional $15 for the first 100 people referred by that user. If a business with 100 users switched to Google Apps, you could get $1,500 altogether.

While you can refer an unlimited number of users, the incentive only kicks in if the people you refer stay as paying customers for at least four months.
