Ferrari Reveals 2015 California T Before Geneva Motor Show Debut

The new Ferrari California T has been unveiled prior to its upcoming world debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month.

The car previously known as "Project 149 M" features 560 horsepower generated by a 3.8-liter twin turbocharged, direct injection engine, Jalopnik reported.

The 2015 version is based on the current Ferrari California but boasts turbo power that hasn't been seen in a Ferrari model since the1987 F40, according to Jalopnik.

The car will first be featured in two exterior colors: Rosso California and Blue California. The new California T should have 49 percent more torque and fuel economy that is improved by 15 percent.

Other improvements include "the latest generation magnetic suspension, upgraded springs and Ferrari's third-generation carbon-ceramic braking system," Jalopnik reported. Inside, the car features a large touchscreen and a "Turbo Performance Engineer" gauge on the central console.

Ferrari describes the latest model as "sporty, elegant and versatile," noting both its reduced emissions and leather-trimmed cabin.

"Since the 1950s, in fact, this particular model has been the Prancing Horse's finest embodiment of all three characteristics," Ferrari said on the model's microsite. "Now, however, the new California T adds a radical innovation to that honorable tradition whilst still retaining the model's highly renowned versatility."

Ferrari had teased the debut on Tuesday with a graphic that surfaced on Twitter.

Guesses as to the car's identity abounded, but most seemed to agree that the image wasn't promoting either of the upcoming expected debuts, the SP FFX and the SP Arya.

Both the SP FFX and the SP Arya are front-engined custom cars, Jalopnik noted at the time. Images of the SP Arya have leaked but didn't seem to match the side profile teased today, while the SP FFX's "three GTO-style vents in the place of a fender swoosh" didn't fit with the image either.

The 2015 California T is expected to make its official worldwide debut at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show on March 4.
