Honda to Offer Apple’s Siri Eyes Free Mode for New Accord, RDX, ILX Models

Honda has announced three of its new vehicles will soon be offered with Apple's Siri Eyes Free mode as a dealer-installed accessory.

The vehicles set to include the new accessory includes: the 2013-'14 Honda Accord and 2013 Acura RDX and ILX.

Pricing for the Siri Eyes Free mode has not been revealed by the automaker yet.

"Honda recognizes the power of Siri Eyes Free to meet connectivity and convenience needs of its customers in a responsible manner," said Art St. Cyr, vice president of product planning and logistics, American Honda. "With technology becoming further integrated into people's lives, we are happy to provide next-generation connectivity and meet our customer's ever-changing needs."

Drivers will be able to direct Siri to perform tasks like sending text messages and e-mails, according to the automaker.

Siri can also check weather updates, set up calendar entries, check sports scores, and provide voice navigation when the audio system is set to iPod or Bluetooth mode.

Additional Siri Eyes Free functionality on select Honda vehicles will be announced next week on December 3.

Siri is made available on iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPad (3rd and 4th generations), iPad Air, iPod touch (5th generation) and iPad mini, and requires Internet access.
