"Since U Been Gone" singer Kelly Clarkson has finally found the one.

The original American Idol, known for hits "Because of You" and "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)," wed fiancé Brandon Blackstock on Sunday in Tennessee.

The couple originally planned to have an outdoor wedding at their Nashville home but called it off when the planning became too much.

"Our whole life is a celebration," Clarkson said in August. "That's what we kept laughing about. We don't need another day where we throw a big party. We would rather have an intimate moment that's special."

Before her December engagement, Clarkson, 31, wasn't sure if she would ever get married, she told PEOPLE.

I've only had three other boyfriends that I dated, and not really seriously," Clarkson said to the outlet earlier this year. But when she met the music manager at a rehearsal for the American Country Music Awards in 2006, she immediately thought he could be someone special.

"This guy walks by, making everybody laugh. I said, 'I'm gonna end up with him. I know it,' " she said.

The pair were married in a private ceremony that Clarkson commemorated with a tweet on Monday that said, "I'm officially Mrs. Blackstock :) We got married yesterday at Blackberry Farms in TN, the most beautiful place ever!"

Clarkson, who shared pictures of the day and thanked the dress designers on Twitter, wore an elegant, long-sleeved lace gown for the ceremony, a Temperley Bridal "Jessamine" wedding dress with clean, simple lines. "Silvery floral appliqués accented the romantic lace overlay and the sleeves had covered buttons at the wrist," PEOPLE describes. "Though the dress was modest, deep V necklines at the front and back framed her face and highlighted her blonde updo, which was accented by a jeweled Maria Elena headpiece."

The singer has openly embraced Blackstock's two children, Savannah, 11, and Seth, 7, from a previous marriage and hopes to have a baby herself in the near future.

When you get married, it's like official," Clarkson told PEOPLE last month. "You're starting a family and we want to have more children, so we're just excited."
