A new video released earlier this month by Toyota featuring the Lexus 2014 IS Hybrid has gone viral.

The video, called "Trace Your Road," hit 1 million views on YouTube in only 10 days.

"(The ad is) daring on many levels and a little dangerous, actually," said MediaBistro.com.

Lexus chose 10 random fans from its Facebook page and then had contestants go to an aircraft hangar where they rode shotgun with former Formula 1 driver Jarno Trulli.

Contestants were able to create their own racetrack for him to follow on the spot according to the Japanese automaker.

Passengers used a tablet to trace a custom designed track that was projected on the floor of the hanger. Trulli then had to follow whatever path they designed as fast as he could to reach the finish line.

"Trulli's expert driving skills were put to the test as he attempted to follow the spontaneous, real-time paths," said Saatchi & Saatchi Italy, the creator of the commercial, in a press statement. "Penalties were assessed for leaving the projected routes and for touching the walls of the hangar. The results included spectacular hairpin turns, stunning footage and, luckily, no accidents."

The IS hybrid is not for sale in the U.S. and is only sold in Europe according to the automaker. They've yet to reveal if the vehicle will be sold in the U.S. at a later date.

The automaker worked with Logan, Movie Magic and Fake Love to create the video.
