General Motors confirmed this week that a team of its technical experts are currently tested two Corvette Stingrays in Europe on both road and tracks, according to BusinessStandard.com.

GM's vehicle dynamics engineer Jim Mero said that the Nurburgring race track is the ideal spot for testing the European version of the Corvette Stingray.

"Nurburgring is renowned for its demanding race track and it is perfectly suited for our purpose, which is to fine-tune the ride and handling characteristics of the European Corvette Stingray," said Mero in a press statement. "We are paying particular attention to the suspension set-up and the steering at Nurburgring. European roads are quite distinct and different from those in the U.S., and so are driving habits."

The testing procedures were designed as part of GM's standard quality control program, which is completed for each new Chevrolet model before going on sale in Europe.

Tests will be completed and documented by Patrick Herrmann, technical manager at Chevrolet Europe, according to BusinessStandard.com.

The new Stingray has a 6.2-liter LT1 V8 engine, which achieves 460 hp, and 4t65 lb.-ft. of torque. Models equipped with the Z51 Performance Package can go from 0-60 in just 3.8 seconds, according to GM.

"European roads are quite distinct and different from those in the US, and so are driving habits," Mero said in a press statement.
