A man who was declared dead for over 45 minutes came back to life earlier this month after hearing his son's voice.
Tony Yahle, a diesel mechanic from West Carrollton, Ohio, was declared dead after his heart stopped beating according to WHIOTV.com.
Medics worked for 45 minutes to stimulate his heart, but had no luck.
"We looked at each other (and) we'd given him all the medicine we had in our code cart," said Dr. Raja Nazir, Yahle's cardiologist to ABC News. "At some point, you have to call it off."
Once his son heard the news that his father had been pronounced dead, Lawrence Yahle, 17, ran down the hall and walked into the room where his father was.
Sitting by his bedside, Lawrence yelled "Dad, you're not going to die today!" according to ABC News.
Just a few seconds later, medics saw a slight heart beat pulse that occurred "once or twice" each minute. The staff then started working again to try resuscitating Yahle.
"When I looked at the electrical activity, I was surprised," Nazir told ABC News. "I thought we'd better make another effort to revive him."
He was then lifted via helicopter to The Ohio State University medical center. Five days later, Yahle regained consciousness.
Yahle was able to return home with a defibrillator in his chest and had no other damage according to ABC News.
"In the last 20 years, I've never seen anybody who we have pronounced dead, and then for him to come back, I've never seen it," Nazir said to the Dayton Daily News. "I'm calling it a miracle because I've never seen anything like it."
Yahle has no memory of what happened before his heart stopped beating.
"I have no memory of anything. I went to bed, woke up five days later in the hospital," Yahle said according to The New York Times. "Nobody really has an explanation for it, medically anyway."
