Jul 06, 2013 09:05 AM EDT | Matt Mercuro

A teenager was driving a boat north of Sodus Bay on July 3 around 11:30 p.m. when he crashed into the East Breakwall at the entrance of the Bay.

Tyler Ocweija, 19, crashed into a stone and concrete breakwall, sending all three of his passengers flying off the boat according to NBC News.

Police confirmed that Liam Wheatley, 19, of Penfield, Michael Dodge, 19, of Webster and Nicholas Pizicuto, 19, of Rochester were involved in the crash.

The teens were all able to get out of the water, but Wheatley was taken to the hospital for an ankle injury according to NBC News. The other two were not injured.

Ocweija has been charged with "boating while intoxicated, refusal to submit to a preliminary breath test, reckless operation of a vessel, operating at more than 5 miles per hour within 100 feet of shore and reckless endangerment" according to police.

He was released from jail and will return to Sodus Town Court later on this year.

The crash was just one of many Fourth of July incidents to take place this week.

In Oklahoma, an 8-year-old boy was killed on July 4 after his father ran over during a parade in Oklahoma.

His father, who was driving the truck that pulled the float, struck him after he either jumped or fell off the float. Police have started investigating the incident.

In California, over 28 people were injured after a wooden platform holding fireworks tipped over.

Close to 10,000 people were set to watch the show and were forced to run for their lives as fireworks were shot off in the wrong direction in Simi Valley, C.A.

Police are still investigating the incident.
