Kia's newest product is soon to launch after the South Korean automaker started mass production of the Carens in India. Kia India rolled off the first unit of the Carens from its assembly line in Anantapur, making its much-awaited release only a matter of time. Once the cars are finished, the Carens will be delivered to local Indian customers and to 80 other countries where they will be exported.

Kia has referred to this three-row offering as a recreational vehicle for the brand. Kia claims it was tested across various terrains before the Carens' mass production commencement. The company even simulated conditions for the Carens during testing to ensure the vehicle was worthy of representing the Kia brand.

Tae-Jin Park, the Managing Director and CEO of Kia India, said that he is very excited about the beginning of this new journey with the Kia Carens. Park added that the Kia Carens is the fourth product they are rolling out in India, and their teams have worked tirelessly to bring out a vehicle that truly reflects and resonates with modern Indian families.

Park concluded his statement by saying, "When customers think of a Kia, they expect best-in-class features, distinct design identity, and unmatched ownership experience- which is truly reflected in the Carens."

Customers have three engine choices with the Kia Carens: 1.5L diesel, 1.4L turbo-petrol, and 1.5L NA petrol. However, the transmission choices for this vehicle are limited to 6-speed AT, 6-speed MT, and 7-speed DCT.

Kia has made the Carens future-proof, putting inside the vehicle a 12.5-inch digital instrument console, a Kia Connect app, an air purifier, a retractable seat back table, an 8-speaker Bose sound system, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, roof-mounted AC vents, a one-touch electric button for tumble-down mechanism, electric sunroof, and more features. The Carens also has a wheelbase of 2,780-mm, making it the longest in its segment.

Kia made the safety of the occupants the main priority when developing the Carens, with the Korean manufacturer equipping the vehicle with a comprising 6-airbag, ESC, ABS with EBD, hill assist, standard safety kit, four-disc brakes, and electronic stability control.

Kia to offer five variants for the Carens

There will be five variants on offer for the Kia Carens-- Luxury, Luxury Plus, Premium, Prestige, and Prestige Plus. The three-row Carens will be available in 6- and 7-seater configurations. The Kia Carens' official bookings are now open for a token amount of Rs 25,000, with the vehicle's exact price set to be announced later this month.

Kia will look to get a boost from the Carens after suffering a sales decline for three consecutive months during the fourth quarter of 2021. Kia sold just 38,342 units from October to December of last year, a massive 28.8 percent drop compared to its numbers during the same period in 2020.
