Honda's new 2015 Acura NSX sports car will be produced inside a former Honda facility in Marysville in central Ohio.

The next-generation NSX will be built in Ohio and exported around the world according to a company press release. Mass production will begin in 2015, though pricing has not been announced yet.

"Some people are probably wondering 'why here?' " said Hidenobu Iwata, president and CEO of Honda of America Manufacturing, speaking at the plant. "The answer is simple, it is about people. The location of this facility is in the midst of one of the greatest collections of engineering talent in the world."

Officials say the plant will employ approximately 100 workers currently working at existing Ohio operations.

The $70 million plant, called the Performance Manufacturing Center, will be located near Honda's plant in Marysville.

"We have a very clear understanding of the high customer expectations luxury buyers around the world have for a supercar, and our challenge is to exceed them and create new value for the customer," said Ted Klaus, Honda R&D Americas chief engineer, in a press statement. "This new Performance Manufacturing Center will be key to this challenge."

The new model will be powered by a mid-mounted V6 engine mated to Acura's new Sport Hybrid Super Handling All Wheel Drive system according to Honda.

Honda's third Ohio auto plant will be located only a few miles away from the Honda R&D Americans Inc. Ohio Center according to the Associated Press.

The NSX was last built in 2005 in Japan, where it had been manufactured since 1990.

"This is not your old man's car," said Gov. John Kasich at the event. "This is the next generation's automobile."
