The new 2017 Honda Civic Si Coupe and Sedan officially went on sale on May 13, 2017, in the United States, and it will cost at least $24,775 including $875 destination in the base version of either model. Buyers also have an option to choose either body style with summer performance tires for $24,975.

The Civic Si and Sedan are mechanically similar as both of them are powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that produces 205 hp (153 kilowatts) and 192 lb-ft of torque (260 Newton-meters). The engine is paired to a six-speed manual gearbox and sends the power to the front wheels and a limited-slip differential maximizes traction.

In addition, the automaker also reveals that the 2017 Honda Civic Si is lighter than its rivals. The sedan weighs at 2,906 pounds and the coupe at 2,889 pounds. The Si comes with adaptive dampers standard and a few nice interior goodies such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Both the sedan and coupe will achieve an EPA-rated 28 mpg city and 38 mpg highway. That's already impressive considering the fact that it's a performance-oriented model. The Civic Si can quickly change between Normal and Sport modes, which adjust the steering, throttle settings and the suspension.

Meanwhile, the Civic Si coupe and sedan have many standard features. For instance, all models will feature heated front seats and dual-zone climate control. On the inside, a seven-inch driver information display shows the car's shift lights, turbo boost and a G-meter.

The Si's price compares well to other hot hatches. The base 2017 VW GTI currently retails for $26,415 and the Ford Focus ST at $25,650 including the $875 destination.

For customers who think that the 2017 Honda Civic Si doesn't offer enough performance, they can wait for the Honda Civic Type R that will be arriving in the U.S. in late spring. Pricing details aren't revealed yet, but the automaker promises that it will be around the mid-30k range.
