Air Show Crash: Pilot Killed Performing Stunt in Madrid, 3 Others Injured (VIDEO)

A jet plane crashed into a hangar and exploded this weekend at an air show in Madrid, severely injuring its pilot who died later in a hospital according to the Associated Press.

Ladislao Tejedor Romero, 35, an experienced jet pilot and assistant to Defense Minister Pedro Morenes, died from serious burns suffered during the crash at Getafe Hospital according to a spokesman for Spain's Defense Ministry said that the pilot.

Over 3,000 people were at Cuatro Vientos airfield to watch the showcase of aerial acrobatics and vintage planes when the aircraft crashed.

The plane, a HA-200 Saeta, was built in the 1950s as an advanced jet trainer by Hispano Aviacion. The aircraft was one of the first jet-propelled planes to be manufactured in Spain.

Ministry spokesman Alfredo Florenza said the cause of the crash was not known as of press time.

At least three others people were injured during the air show according to Europa Press news agency.

A rescue worker is recovering from burns suffered during the incident and a 54-year-old man believed to be the pilot's father suffered an anxiety attack. Both were transferred to a nearby hospital.

The third person, also a rescue worker, suffered from smoke inhalation and received first aid at the scene the agency reported.
