General Motors sold its 1 millionth vehicle in China today, April 22, the quickest the company has ever done so in a calendar year.
The company first sold 1 million vehicles in China in a single year back in December 2007 according to a company press release.

"This is a great start to the year and a big accomplishment for our team," said Bob Socia, president, GM China, and Chief Country Operations Officer, China, India and ASEAN. "We will continue bringing new products and expanding our dealerships to boost sales."
In 2012, GM reached the ever important 1 million mark on May 7 in China, meaning they accomplished the feat two weeks earlier this year.
GM and its joint ventures recently announced that they'll be adding at least 17 new or upgraded models in China by 2015.
The new models revealed already by GM include the Wuling Sunshine, two new Jiefang light-duty trucks, Zafira Tourer and a new Chevrolet Cruze hatchback according to the press release.
"We're confident about playing here in China," Bob Socia said according to Reuters. "We're here for the long term."
Socia also said there is a chance that GM will export vehicles to the U.S. from China eventually, but didn't reveal any plans as of press time.
The company also recently announced they'll be expanding their dealer network to make it "easier" for customers in China to purchase and service vehicles.
By the end of 2013, China will have 400 new dealers, bringing the country's total to 4,200 according to GM.
