The new Volvo XC60 is set to be displayed in a Scandinavian-inspired pop-up show in Arndale Center, Manchester this week. Volvo claims the new SUV will be the safest car in the world when it is officially released in the market.

The new Volvo XC60 was first revealed at the Geneva Motor Show and is now having its second grand appearance in Manchester before it will have its full launch later this year. The model that will be displayed is a Pine Grey XC60 D5 SUV. It will share the showroom with the Volvo V90 premium estate and the XC90 SUV, Carsite reported.

The original XC60 was deemed to be the bestselling premium mid-sized SUV in Europe. Representing about 30 percent of the brand's total annual global sales, the original XC60 has sold nearly a million units around the world.

After nine years, a new 2017 Volvo XC60 has been introduced and is now coming out with more powerful specs especially on the safety aspect. The new SUV is reportedly coming out with the latest Steer Assist.

The already-exceptional City Safety system of Volvo has been greatly enhanced with the inclusion of Steer Assist. This new feature is beneficial to the two safety systems of Volvo: Oncoming Lane Mitigation and Blind Spot Indication System.

The Steer assist helps to mitigate head-on collisions. This new feature also aids in reducing the risk of lane-changing collisions. Hence, the new SUV is designed to come out to be the safest car on the road in the near future.

Volvo emphasized their efforts on producing cars that can provide pleasure and ergonomic designs. According to Henrik Green, Volvo Car Group senior vice-president for product and quality, the company has put all their special efforts to create a vehicle that will make life easier for their valued clients. Volvo has aimed to produce cars which can deliver best comfort and services to eliminate the driving struggles.

The new Volvo XC60 is coming out with the diesel D4 engine which can produce 190 bhp and the D5 engine with PowerPulse technology which produces 235 bhp. The new SUV will also be available with a petrol-powered T5 engine which produces 254 bhp, and the T6 engine integrated with both turbo and superchargers that can deliver 320 bhp and 400 Nm of torque.

Furthermore, the new SUV will be available with other options like the Pilot Assist, and the plug-in hybrid version. The Pilot Assist is the brand's latest semi-autonomous driver assistance system, while the plug-in hybrid version runs with Volvo's award-winning T8 Twin Engine petrol engine which can deliver 407 bhp and can speed up from 0-100kph in 5.3 seconds only.

By the middle of April, the new Volvo XC60 is scheduled to enter production at the Torslanda plant in Sweden. According to Irish Examiner, the base price starts at $58,500 (€53,950).
