Next-Generation Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 Spotted: Is This The Real Deal?

If you thought Chevrolet has had enough with incredibly fast cars following their recent launch of the ZL1 1LE, think again. Spy photos reveal what seems to be the next-generation Chevrolet Camaro Z/28. And it was heavily camouflaged.

Based on the spy photographs, the alleged next-generation Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 has a front bumper with a prominent splitter. The hood has some sort of flap in it, suggesting it is hiding an extra vent.

Meanwhile, its rear end and sides might have incorporated styling cues from the standard Camaro SS or it was probably inspired or based from that. Plus, in all its glory, the next-generation Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 could have improved aerodynamics for a more track-focused model.

Now, why would we think that this is the upcoming Z/28 and not some redesigned or refreshed model? Basically, the ZL1 and ZL1 1LE were recently launched. Plus, this specific vehicle was heavily camouflaged and it seems Chevy had it heavily guarded to the point that they covered the vehicle when they noticed there were spy photographers.

Autoblog pointed out that the Camaro received its redesign last year, so a refresh this early would be a little bit premature. Perhaps, this would come in a couple of years. Also, there haven't been any reports that Chevy is working on any other car besides the reported next-generation Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.

And it wouldn't be likely that they are planning for a midcycle refresh of the ZL1 or ZL1 1LE. That leaves the Z/28 as the only vehicle left.

And then you would wonder if this was the aggressive Z/28, the rear wing and side skirt with beefed up arches are missing. Obviously, this is an early prototype and could still perhaps receive an additional aero kit, according to TopSpeed.

The next-generation Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 is reported to arrive in 2018 and could sport a 700-horsepower produced by a high-revving, naturally aspirated engine. This would put it in line with other hypercars in the market today.

But of course, there isn't any official news as of this writing and we won't know for sure until Chevy unveils its next-generation Chevrolet Camaro Z/28. Until we will keep an eye out for any possible leads regarding one of the hottest vehicles on the planet.
