McLaren-Honda still needs to do a proper run in the 2017 Formula One pre-season testing in Barcelona, Spain. Fernando Alonso also managed only to complete 29 laps because of an engine change and a morning race because of an oil leak.

This gives McLaren 69 laps for two days which is significantly shorter than Mercedes that managed to do 362 laps. Stoffel Vandoorne said that their defeat has been significant for the team.

He admitted that they are not in the best situation right now, Auto Sports reported. Vandoorne explained that they are hoping to do more laps but they just didn't manage to do it.

Stoffel Vandoorne explained that they did not get to do any proper run. He said that he only managed to do 40 laps in addition to Fernando Alonso's 29 laps.

Vandoorne explained that because of this they had a lot of checking to do. He explained that if they manage to perform without any issues they can have a full diagnostic of their performance.

Crash reported that Stoffel Vandoorne felt comfortable the first time he hopped on the car, which is a positive sign to have. The race car driver said they lost the engine power in the morning after a couple of laps.

McLaren-Honda is reportedly still investigating the issue. They are hoping to analyze the problem as soon as possible and come back with a more reliable car in the future.

Auto World News reported McLaren-Honda is using a car that can produce greater Internal Combustion Engine outputs. The new car actually has an improved car balance.

Vandoorne admitted that the upcoming races are important for them because of their failed start. However, he said that they are keen on making the most out of their situation.

The race car driver also said that they are currently not planning to change their driver schedule despite their limited run. He said that so far everything is still going according to their plan.
