2018 Toyota Supra Spotted: Aggressive Modern-Looking Coupe Dancing In The Snow With BMW Z5

Feb 23, 2017 12:00 AM EST | Andrew Davis

The 2018 Toyota Supra is one of the highly anticipated vehicles to come out soon, hopefully. And recently, it has been spotted dancing in the snow in northern Europe with the upcoming BMW Z5. Both are heavily camouflaged but it was marvel seeing the Z5 topless despite a temp of 7 degrees Fahrenheit.

This is the first time both vehicles were spied together testing as previous spy shots of the Toyota Supra and BMW Z5 were separate. What is known so far is that both vehicles will be riding on a front-engine, rear-wheel drive platform. MotorTrend adds that both vehicles are expected to be built by Magna Steyr, located in Graz, Austria, a company that already produces BMW cars.

The 2018 Toyota Supra reportedly will be offered only as a two-door liftback. And a hybrid variant could possibly be part of the Supra's lineup, reports CarAdvice. There is little information regarding its powertrain as the automaker has kept a tight lid on their upcoming next-gen vehicle.

Engine. According to an earlier report by AutoBlog, we could expect 2 turbos and a V6, although whether a Toyota V6 or BMW inline-six engine with a potential for 400 horses is still unknown. This is what makes a powerful next-gen auto exciting, all the unknowns. We are truly looking forward to its big reveal.

Exterior. The 2018 Toyota Supra looks more of an aggressive modern-looking coupe compared with its twin Z5, which has a sleek and simple look to it. But with the heavy camouflage both are wearing, it is quite difficult to distinguish. The Supra could be equipped with new fenders, hood, bumpers, and trunk lid. Yet, we could not tell for sure, as these could all be part of its camo.

Overall, the 2018 Toyota Supra looks to mix together previous generation Supra and FT-1 concept elements. This is no surprise as the car is a production of the combined forces of Toyota and BMW. For now, stay tuned for more updates of the 2018 Toyota Supra.
