Paramount insiders have confirmed to Deadline.com that Saturday Night Live Alum Kristen Wiig has reportedly agreed to join the cast of the highly-anticipated sequel to "Anchorman" titled "Anchorman: The Legend Continues."

"Kristen Wiig is officially on board for Anchorman 2. Couldn't be more excited," said director/co-screenwriter Adam McKay on his Facebook page. The film's director also took to his Twitter account, "Just found out Kristen Wiig officially on board for Anchorman 2. Cannonball!"

The film also features the return of stars Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, and David Koechner who will be reprising their memorable roles as San Diego's favorite news team.

Ferrell personally revealed the news of a sequel on "Conan" last spring wearing Ron Burgundy's signature suit and mustache.

McKay was previously quoted saying he had hopes of filling the sequel with a "murderer's row of best day players ever. Like having every single one line or three line role, just be someone we just love," according to The Playlist.

There are no details on how big of a role Wiig will play in the film, but Deadline has confirmed she will be playing the wife of Carell's character Brick Tamland.

"I think it's such a great ensemble piece that I would hope that our roles are the same as they were the first time around," Carell said in an interview according to WGAL News 8. "The storyline is going to be different, but I hope the people in it are exactly the same."

The film is due out on Dec. 20 according to IMDB.
