Country music star Randy Travis is now expected to enter a guilty plea this week in a drunken-driving case in North Texas according to the Associated Press.
Travis was arrested this past summer naked after crashing his Pontiac Trans Am.
Details on the plea agreement have yet to be released, but more information should come on Jan. 31 after Travis's court appearance according to Sherman, Grayson County District Attorney Joe Brown. The singer is expected to plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge that could be punishable by a $4,000 fine and up to two years in jail.
"(Travis is) looking forward to putting this behind him and moving on," said John Nix, his defense attorney, who also stated a probation period is expected.
The Trans Am reportedly veered off a roadway near Tioga, a town on Aug. 7, around 60 miles north of Dallas where the singer lives. The 53-year-old's vehicle then struck several barricades in a construction zone.
Travis was found naked and his blood-alcohol level was over 0.15. The legal limit in Tioga is 0.08 according to the Associated Press.
He walked out of jail the next morning after posting bail, wearing just scrubs, a University of Texas baseball cap and no shoes. At the time Travis also faced a charge of retaliations for threatening officers, but that charge is no longer on file according to the report.
The singer has been nothing but remorseful since the incident, claiming he stopped drinking and has nothing but respect for the law enforcement. He may have respect for officers, but this is hardly Travis's first run-in with the law.
On Aug. 23, Travis was cited for an incited that occurred in a church parking lot where he got in to an argument involving a woman he knows and her husband. He pleaded not guilty to a simple assault charge and a jury trial is scheduled for March.
Last February Travis was arrested in Denton County, northwest of Dallas for public intoxication. The case has been dismissed according to the Associated Press.
