Hyundai, Google Maps To Enhance In-Vehicle Search And Navigation In 2013

Hyundai and Google announced this week that Google's interfaces (APIs) will be included in the U.S.-based Hyundai Blue Link telematics platform. The device will be designed to help customers find their destination quicker than ever before according to a press release issued by Hyundai.

"Google is a leader and innovator in search, content and technology, offering incredible tools," said Barry Ratzlaff , director of Customer Connect at Hyundai Motor America in the press release. "Blue Link makes it easy for our owners to find and navigate to their destinations. The integration of Google Maps APIs makes Blue Link even more effective. We look forward to continuing work with Google to bring innovative solutions to Hyundai owners."

Hyundai Blue Link offers a number of different features and apps that will make the driving experience go a lot easier in 2013. All new features will be supported by the integration of Google Maps APIs which includes Send to Car, Point of Interest Search, and Local Search by Voice according to Hyundai.

These new features will help people find where they need to go and get them there quicker and more accurately than ever before by using Google's updated Places database.

Hyundai Reception at CES

Hyundai has also revealed that a reception will occur at the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) on Jan. 10 in Las Vegas. People who attend will be allowed opportunities to receive more information on the new Google Maps features at the Hyundai Blue Link exhibit.

Hyundai Blue Link reportedly offers over 30 safety, service, and infotainment systems that work together to help make driving easier and safer.

"We're always looking for ways to make it easier for people to discover more relevant information to help them make informed choices - whether that's where to go for a coffee, or where to take dry cleaning," said Tarun Bhatnagar, head of Enterprise Geo at Google in a press release. "It's great to see that more drivers now have access to fresh, web-based content while on the go with the Hyundai Blue Link Google Maps integration."
