This year marked the 50 Anniversary of one of the largest Jeep events in the U.S., the San Diego-based Tierra Del Sol 4 Wheel Drive Club's Desert Safari. Chrysler donated a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Sport to the club to commemorate the milestone which the club intends to put up for auction on Dec. 30.

The announcement was made in a company press release.

"Tierra Del Sol has been promoting the enjoyment and protection of our natural resources, family outdoor living and responsible trail use for over 50 years. These are also core values of the Jeep brand," said Jason Stoicevich, director of the California Business Center, Chrysler Group LLC in the press release. "We're honored and proud to support the club and look forward to 50 more years."

Over the last nine months the new Wrangler was brought to many different locations and events around California, giving the club a chance to discuss to the public about "land-use issues" and sell raffle tickets for a chance to win the vehicle at the San Diego International Auto Show.

Sweepstakes Chairman Wayne Miller said to Chrysler that the club plans on donating the money earned to help keep Public Lands & Trails from being closed to responsible off-road drivers.

"Over the last nine months this vehicle has been taken to several cars shows, TV stations, street fairs and talked about on several radio stations," said Sweepstakes Chairman Wayne Miller in the press release.

The winning ticket will be drawn at the Auto Show on Dec. 30 at the Camp Jeep booth. The winner does not need to be present according to Chrysler. Participants can purchase tickets for $4 at the Camp Jeep booth at the Auto Show.
