Cafe X is the first ever robot run café. It has a branch in Asia specifically, Hongkong. Last Tuesday, the shop has officially opened a branch in the United States.

The shop is a hybrid café as described by its customers. It is where a machine arm created by Mitsubishi is the one brewing cappuccinos, lattes, and espresso that is served to order. It has partnered with WMF, an international provider of high-quality cooking ware and household goods.

Henry Hu, CEO of Café X, has always been a big coffee consumer. This is one of the reasons the concept shop was created. According to Hu, "But the waiting time, especially here in San Francisco, is often too long. I created Cafe X with the idea to speed up the process and ensure the same quality of an espresso at a bar."

In preparing a coffee, it will take a couple of minutes for humans while for this shop's robot, it will only take a minute to served a drink. The robot, on the other hand, is said to be the brainchild of Hu.The shop made everything fast and easy with its concept. In ordering a drink, the customer will just have to choose from the seven options listed on an iPad that is on the kiosk or simply order through the app. If the customer prefers ordering using their smartphone, the shop sends a text message with a four-digit code that the customer should enter on the robot's kiosk when the coffee is ready.

Once done, the robot arm will grab a cup from the warming station's small shelf which is similar to a vending machine. From there, customers can pick up their order. The Café X robot can keep a drink warm for only up to eight minutes and beyond that, the drink gets dumped as it was programmed. Customers will also be notified when missing the pickup window while remaking your ordered drink free of charge once you arrive.
