"Deus Ex: Mankind Divided" has been put on hold by game developers and the studio behind this action the role-playing stealth video game. It has been reported that Square Enix and Eidos Montreal are working on another title. It seems the company has moved on to other bigger franchises.

The third installment of the "Deus Ex" title was supposedly meant to complete the trilogy. Also, the hanging plot points in the earlier released titles would have been resolved in the now put off game sequel.

This means that the story threads on "Deus Ex: Mankind Divided" will be left as they were, hanging. However, the fate of "Deus Ex" sequel is still unknown and whether the untold story will be resolved is yet to be officially announced, although a possibility of tying it up to a graphic novel isn't far-fetched.

According to Kotaku, Eidos Montreal, Square Enix's Canadian studio and the same studio behind "Deus Ex" series, is currently working on two major active titles. The report furthered that it has been confirmed, after a leak a few months ago, that one of those major games is a new "Tomb Raider" game, which would likely be called "Shadow of the Tomb Raider."

Square Enix will be all hands on deck following the recently announced multi-game Marvel deal. Eurogamer reports a small team at Eidos Montreal is helping Crystal Dynamics on the "Avengers" project. Also, they are in the early stages of production for the second Marvel game adaptation of the "Guardians of the Galaxy" universe.

David Anfossi, Eidos Montreal boss, said: "It's a commitment on our part to deliver meaningful content that expands the franchise on a regular basis and to deliver a deep conspiracy that will span several connected Deus Ex games, creating a more immersive and richer experience than ever before." Collaborating with Marvel and working on these iconic titles could be more profitable for the company. This and also the underwhelming sales from the 2016 release of "Deus Ex: Mankind Divided" could have prompted that Square Enix to put the game on an indefinite hiatus.

Fans of the iconic first-person action role-playing game may have to wait for some time before Square Enix gives the green light again for the sequel to "Deus Ex: Mankind Divided." Until then, let's all hope that out of the blue, sales numbers for the game skyrockets because it took 5 years and a massive investment to breathe life in the game.
