"Our customers rely on their trucks to meet the day-to-day challenges of earning a living, running a business and taking care of their families," said Mark Reuss, president, GM North America in the press release. "Chevrolet is committed to giving truck customers the most-refined, best-engineered pickups in the market."

GM stated that every feature designed for the new vehicle was created to meet the exact requirements and expectations that full-size truck fans love while still including enhancements most shouldn't mind.

Under the hood, the new Silverado1500 features three different EcoTec3 direct fuel injection engine options: two V-8s and a V-6 option. The 4.3L V-6 option will provide more torque for towing capabilities, the 5.3L V-8 for more power and a 6.2L V-8 option will be the "most capable engine in any light-duty pickup" according to GM.

"The designers and engineers who created the new Silverado share this passion for trucks," said Reuss. "They have built this truck - and tested it to the extremes - to give customers the right tools for the tough jobs, and they have created dozens of solutions to the challenges truck customers encounter every day."

Silverado will come with exclusive features like Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning, and Front and Rear Park Assist. StabiliTrak with Trailer Sway Control and Hill Start Assist will also be standard features available in all Silverado vehicles according to GM.

Most models will also include a 4.2-inch color Driver Information Center displaying vehicle and infotainment data according to the press release. The device has been designed to be used while driving with voice activation features like being able to place calls, enter travel directions, or search for music that you want to listen to. The device can also store up to 60 AM/FMXM radio stations.

"Creating the new Silverado while maintaining its heritage was a challenge, but I am confident that we struck the right balance," said Kevin O'Donnell, manager for the Silverado exterior design. "The 2104 Silverado will definitely stand out, in terms of both appearance and improved aerodynamic performance."

Pricing for the 2014 Silverado has not been released. Production for the new vehicle will begin in the second quarter of 2013.
